Well we had a GREEEEEEAT first time skiing and are now hooked!
Although we stayed at the Eidelweiss (15min walk to resort centre) and the food was CRAP (totally inedible!) the rooms were basic but good enough. Eating out was good (Alpin was the best closely followed by the Happy Duck and Red Dragon Chinese although not as cheap as we thought it would be). Queues for Gondola were big (unless you got there early) as it was our first time and in a beginners class our instructor (Kiko) kept pushing us in front of people (which was embarassing at times). The skiing went better than I thought and the group I was in all picked it up really well resulting in us skiing from the top down to mid station on Friday - It was really icy which knocked our confidence but we got there and it felt a great achievement.
So, overall the resort was great, skiing was great (more snow would have been nice though) eating out was good and nightlife also good but overall not as inexpensive as we thought - I'd give it 7 out of 10
Just a mention for our fantastic Ski Instructor Kiko who was excellent and made us all feel at ease - We'll certainly be back and will ask for Kiko again - he was
Simply the Best!
The Alpin does serve good food but it is one of the most expensive in resort. Francos and the Avalanche were good for everyday eating and we were served some really good meals in both.
Hey i stayed at the edelweis too last week and the food was Excellent*********
all freshly cooked and piping hot...you obviously just a big mac person and don't know good food when its put infront of you. there was 4 of us and not a complaint between us all week
Yeah but we were saving all our energy for the slopes (nothing to do with the fact we didn't get back to the hotel till around 4am each morning and were hungover!) Although the mountain air certainly cleared the head!
