Just back from Borovets

Just got back from a lovely week bulgaria. We arived on thuesday, and were lucky that evening felt some new snow. because the snowconditions were very bad.

Everything were the same as normal, the apres-ski whas good, the restaurants were good and the people (most) friendly. Only the liftsystem (gondola, 4-chairs and the draglifts) whas dramatic. 20 min waiting at the draglifts, 45 min waiting at the new 4-chairlift infront of Rila (the other 2 were not running all the week. At the gondola you have to wait for one hour to go up and about 45 min to go down (snow conditions till midstation were good). Is this normal?????i dont think so!!!!!

Many people i spoke were complaning about this, and never want to go back to Borovets again. The investers in Borovets are making a big mistake. they first build a lot af new hotels/apartements but they gorgot to make new ski-runs and lifts first. So people who are comming the next 2/3/4/5 years got waitingtimes at the lifst, double as i did. because their is not enough space for everybody.

The best advertise for Borovets is!!! That people say back home! ''it whas great/ not saying never go back to borovets again"

I Hope some invensters/bulgarian couverment read this and change their plans. otherwise in couple of years Borovets will be a ghost-town

gr a bulgarian fan

re: Just back from Borovets

Hi flying Dutchman,
same procedere as every year. We love Bulgaria very much, spend the summers at the Black Sea and the winters in Borovets but concerning infrastructure there, lifts and ski runs, it has not become better and we are afraid of decreasing conditions. To less investments and pockets full of money for the building companies. We will hope for the future. The market will regulate.
Best regards from Berlin

Hopefully by peak season they will have got their act together !!
Also in Borovets last week and was amazed how slow they were ro react and get lifts/pistes open after the dump of snow we had. in addition to all the lift problems we had trouble with Borosports ski school.
Whole organisation needs a good keep up the *** !!

re: Just back from Borovets

Agree with Tony. Just back also. If there had been more snow (nobody's fault) things would have been better, but as it was the whole thing was a bit of a shambles. Slopes not pisted, despite the snow, lift/tow breakdowns, and the queues were a free-for-all. Poor organisation and nobody in control seemed to care. Never seen anything like it elsewhere. Despite that we had a great time, food and drink were cheap and the people were great.

Alex.
