Hi,
Just thought I should let you all know how I got on with a week at Borovets and the Rila Hotel.
I have been skiing for a few years now in fact 20 years, and have travelled across most of Europe with my skiing including Italy,France and Austria.
I went to Borvets 12 years ago, befor they had heard of hot food, and I have to say the food and skiing was not good.
However, I have just come back from Borovets having taken the family out there for one week. My self being able to manage the black runs and my wife who is 5 months pregnant and our little boy aged 6.
We had a great time, stayed in the Rila again, and I have to say this is a great family hotel that is value for money. We stayed in a Studio apartment, which was clean tidy and quite large and was great for our needs. The food was much better this time round, much more choice and if it could keep my 6 years old happy then I am also happy. If it was a little cold for some they also had a microwave available for you to heat it up.
We found the resot full of action for all, from the little one to my wife and then the night life for me. (opp's got drunk again).
All in all I would say that Borvets is not the best ski centre in Europe but when it comes to first time skiers or just making a great family holiday, it does offer great value for money. Hoever having said that I did notice thaat some things were a little more expensive tham at home (stay away from the mountain snack bars).
The Inghams kinda Garden was great for my son and he had a great time, and this allowed my wife and I to spend time together enjoying the holiday too.
So to sum it up, I would say that for a third of the cost of a ski holiday in Europe this allowed us to and the extra money to have a great holiday in Borovets.
Just don't expect the ritz.
Regards to all and happy holidays,
Nick.
