Just back from Pamporovo

With regards to the snow conditions please see Gazzas report below.
I was originally booked to go to the Pamporovo hotel but transfered to the Orlovetz after reading the reports of building work and the crane on this forum, it cost £20 each to upgrade. The Orlovetz is the newest 5 star in the resort. I was originally booked to go to the Pamporovo hotel but transfered to the Orlovetz after reading the reports of building work and the crane on this forum, it cost £20 each to upgrade. The Orlovetz is the newest 5 star in the resort. This hotel is a business style hotel and is very subdued, but here is the good thing about it. The Perelik and Mougavets can be accessed either by underground link or just by crossing the road. So you can have all the atmosphere of DJ's, Spiders Planet and Apres Ski ( and the boom boom boom of the music late into the night) and then go for an undisturbed night sleep.
Orlovetz food on HB Basis was VERY repetative especially breakfast. Evening meal was OK but as usual it was generally luke warm.
Drinks prices were a touch higher than other hotels.
I thought that the prices on the slopes have gone up since last year - typically a 'pint' of draught beer was 5 levs, a pizza between 14 & 16 levs, Jacket potato with cheese and beans 8 levs, soft drink 3.5 levs. The toilet 0.5 levs in some cafes, Brandy Hot Chocolate between 4 & 6 levs.
Presentation night is still a great night out.
A new night out is an Arabian night - a new restaurant has opened and the chef is Leabonese. The night includes a variety of Tapas and some typical filled pastries, with free flowing water and Red wine. The entertainment included 4 belly dancers who could really wiggle and a juggler / fire eater. £16 each. Me and the missus were both poorly the next day and had to miss the skiing which as it happened was the day of the storm force winds that shut all lifts down so it didn't really matter. I blamed the rich food but somehow I think it might have been the wine and then the Beer in DJs not mixing too well.
There is a lot of building work going on with several shells of hotels / apartment blocks waiting for the spring to finish off, trouble is they are not to clever at clearing away the rubble or repairing the paths either the paving ones or the grass tracks which are normally hidden by snow.
If all these rooms are full then the slopes and lifts will struggle.
I had a look in the Pamporovo hotel and there is work going on to upgrade it regain its 5 star claim but what I saw looked very nice and its not that farto walk to the centre.
I lost my lift pass on the last day and it cost me 40 levs for one day so be warned.
Alaska Supermarket are offering 2.76 levs to the pound but travel reps use 2.85 when converting pound to levs so my £32 arabian night cost 91 levs not 86 so pay in sterling ifyou can as it works out cheaper.
Any questions I will be glad to answer them if I can.
Yes I would go back ( for the 4th time).

Kindergarten at Ski Depot 2 at the Malina area, dont know about Ski depot 1 at the bus station. What do you want to know about the Perelik?

re: Just back from Pamporovo

'kindergarten' in Pamps, is disgrace, they just bring the kids out bum boarding and they don't even make them share the bum boards, we took our kid out of it when we saw what was going on, never again with kids in kindergarten in pamps.

re: Just back from Pamporovo

Hiya! We're going next weekend and are booked into the Hotel Pamporovo. Do you think it worthwhile to check if we can change our reservation to the Orlovetz -that's if DirectSki do it? We'd like an undisturbed nights sleep in a clean bed - that's our main priority - after all, we can eat anywhere (we hope) though we are HB in Hotel Pamps!

re: Just back from Pamporovo

Hotel Pamporovo looked very nice despite the earlier reports of building works not being finished. The Hotel is a tourist type hotel and is quite popular ( read that as noisy if you wish) but people I spoke to whilst out there did not seem to have a problem.
Orlovetz is quiet, very quiet, lacks any atmosphere but is new, and linked to the Perelik.
I was pleased to be able to get a good nights sleep without incesent europop vibrating the walls.

Hiya

Am now concerned about the Pamporovo Hotel, are you saying that it is a noisy hotel with music through the night.

Am traveling on the 10th Feb.
