Just got back yesterday. Been to Pamps twice this year, once last. Skiing conditions fab, runs all in great shape. BIG, BIG queues on Thur, Fri, but this was only due to a national holiday. will keep that in mind for next year. Perilik and Mugavets smack in centre of resport. BJ's bar in perilik has 3 happy hours.........or at least it did last week. 1630-1730, 2230-2330, and a new one from 0300-0400 but can't really remember that one. Got a bus from ski staion No.1 to Smoylen (Check spelling) for 2 leva each. They are suppose to run on the hour, but as per everywhere, they blame the weather on them being late (25 mins). Found a resturant and had a meal for 4. Two bottles of red wine salads, mains, deserts and baileys £23 . Taxi back anything between 25 and 50 leva. We had Bulgarian friens with us and the taxi was 15 Leva!! The Bulgarian Barbeque Village restaurant next to the Murgavets hotel is Mrs. BFT's favorite. I personally think the live music is a bit loud if you are trying to have a good old chat.
Agree with all you say BFT. Pamps was brilliant, Hotel Snezhanka very cosy and friendly but may pay the £20 extra and go to Margovets next time. Ski school was fab (thanks Margo!), group I was in was superb (only 8 of us) and all the other groups about same size. Nightlife at BJs and Daks was very lively and if you plan your Happy Hours properly you can get wrecked for very little. Look out for the local 'ladies of the night' - they watch out for drunk lads and get pretty aggressive if you ...

Food --well those of you that have been to Bulgaria before may know that they don't eat their food as hot as we do and that their taste is less sophisticated (ie they don't have chips or pizza with everything lol!) They have lots of veg and salads. In the 3* Snezhanka where I stayed there was a great buffet at breakfast and dinner which covered evey taste I think.
Snow - what can I say - 2.2m of the stuff! They keep the pistes in pretty good order but there is not the same sort of rules ...

Snow - what can I say - 2.2m of the stuff! They keep the pistes in pretty good order but there is not the same sort of rules n regs as there is in Austria and France about what you can and cannot do on the slopes. This means that when the slopes ara busy (as they were on the Bulgarian National Holidays) it can be pretty hairy, but the instructors do look after you. There were big lift queues on these days, and there were 2 fights that I saw when people pushed in! But this was not the norm on the other days, and all the lifts ran smoothly. Good choice of runs, and I could go back as an intermediate and still not be bored. Ski school was ace, well organised with great instructors. Was doing green runs on day 3 and blue on day 5.
Food on the piste is great, you can get burger and chips with a drink for about 15-20 levs. loads and loads of bars on the miuntains, you will not go hungry or thirsty! As a treat try the Panorama restaurant at the top of the TV tower. It costs 5 lev to go up but the views are spectacular.
Flights were pretty good - Balkan Holidays Air the aircraft may be a little old and most of them do not have in-flight entertainment, but they are pretty fast and got us out their and back half an hour quicker than advertised! In flight food is Bulgarian, so it may come as a surprise if you are used to a hot sausage pannini! The bar on board is charegable but cheap, and the stewardesses pretty attentive. All flights ran on time.
All in all, we had a great time, made new friends and am seriously thinking of going back
It wasn“t simply a " Bulgarian holiday"-it was THE Bulgarian holiday!Then we celebrated 3th March,when 85%of Bulgaria was free from Ottoman yoke=slavery!
A few months later Britain-at the time supportive of Ottoman atrocities against Christian Bulgarians, set up the Berlin Congress and took our lands and people back under Ottoman slavery. As a result,we had to fight 5 wars to get our lands and people back, but TO THIS DAY ONLY 50% of Bulgarian land is called Bulgaria.

The rest is in Turkish,Greek,Serb,Romanian hands and they massacred our people and confiscated their property!THANKS,BRITAIN FOR THE GENOCIDE!

Lenny
You clearly feel very strongly about this, but is it not time to let go of the atrocities of the past and build a harmonious future!
I thought Bulgaria was a beautiful country with friendly people and would like to learn the language, I think it was you who gave me some advice before. Are we Brits really thought of so badly by Bulgarians? I do hope not.
