Hello, just got back from a week in Borovets. Myself and my wife Lyn were first time skiers and we took along our two children (couldn't persuade anyone at home to have them) who are 5 and 3.

all in all had a great time. The weather changed from freeze thaw conditions on the first day (sunday) when it was 13 degc to -12 on the last day. Plenty of snow for the whole week which was great.

Found everyone we met to be very very friendly, the food in the hotel (Rila) was ok but we ate out most evenings as all of the resturaunts were great and cheap - a meal for all of us including drinks was usually about 60 levs.

The childern went to the Inghams nursery, Overall this was very ood, but their resources were limited, when they were not skiing they were mainly colouring or watching TV as there was little else to do. They went out on the slopes fot 1 hour twice a day. We did not get any complaints from them - I wold have jut liked to have seen a bit more for them to do.

The one thing that seemed to spoil the resort was that no one seemed to care for it. Everything only worked some of the time - for example there was never more than half th lifts working in the hotel, only one plug socket worked in the newly refurbished room, the maid only ever half cleaned the room etc. I don't know if it is a shortage of money or just a lack of care, but if the locals all showed a bit more interest in their surroundings it could be a fantastic place.

We ate a couple of times in the Hotel Alpin - this seemed to be the one place where everything worked and appeared to be looked after.

The ski school was great. Our instructor was very patient and despite being unwell he was with us all day every day.

The ski equipment was all brand new, but already it was starting to suffer from the lack of care problem.
