re: Just back from boro

Do you think the fatal accident was the reason for the closure of the gondola from tuesday? Do you know anyone that witnessed the accident? We thought the so called green run down from the left hand side of the resort was really dangerous especially where it crossed the other runs, especially on monday & tuesday treacherous ice, very busy & on monday it had a hole in it!!!! Still great first time ski-ing holiday.

re: Just back from boro

My wife had a nasty experience the first time we went down that green run. She lost control crossing the first of the 3 runs and didn't stop until well past the 3rd. God knows how she didn't come to grief (it was only her 2nd day of skiing). Nearly put her off for life. Would have thought some fencing might have been the order of the day as well to stop skiers coming down the 3 red runs from crossing over this track (ie stop, go through a gate and start again?).

Message for new skiers ...

Message for new skiers though - our ski instructor (Nick from the Samokov) seemed a bit of camikaze (not sure about that spelling) type. I suspect that other instructers would have taken a bit more time showing the basics (ie how to stop would have been good!) - don't for goodness sake let this mini report put you off. I have only told half a story and the fact is that my wife is every bit as enthusiastic as me about going back to Boro for more skiing this year.

carol - I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that green run was a problem. As a very inexperienced skier I went down that run super glued to my instructor and have never been so terrified in all my life!!

re: Just back from boro

First day when it was closed for morning was while they restocked. You could see them taking up all chocolate/ drinks and supplys. 2nd day when it was closed from middle to top we were told they had lost electricity up there. Instructors were obviously nervous because we were stopped couple of times and told to slow down. Was very icy and later in the week very rocky. The only thing dangerous about the green run crossing the reds was the stupid people who stopped and blocked it.

re: Just back from boro

Our instructor was very careful the first time as that was the day that there was a hole in the run and it was very nasty. After that he left us to get on with it! Glad that it didnt put your wife off going again, where were you staying?
