Bulgaria Ski discussion board

Just got back on saturday from Borovets - and i have to say .... i was a little dissapointed. Everybody gave me such high hopes and i was really looking forward to it. This is not to say that it was a disaster ...it was far from that, and a group of 4 begginers and two intermedaites had a good, fun time.

First of all, the Iglika Palace was a good,clean hotel and the food was good!
Now, i don't mean to sound like a nagging woman, but many of you failed to tell us enough about the "Ladies of the night" - i'm sorry but more of a single lads resort!. We did - like you promised, meet some great people out there, and the instructors were great up to the point when they tried to sell us every event going. The famous Buzz bar, sounded great but on the first two night we went there, young lads were getting into fights!

The snow wasn't great untill Wed, thursday, but that didn't dampen our spirits.
Honestly we paid for what we got, and there was nothing wrong with that. We all had a good time and thanks for keeping me informed!

i read your report of borovits with some supprise, i was there in jan , i did go to the buzz bar and like you didnt really like it there at all , i found it packed and some what over rated so i can understand your comment there .
i stayed at the samakov hotel which was really nice , good food good service,
my supprise comes when you mention ladies of the night , perhaps im relly daft or something but im a single lad /man infact im a single 38 year old and i was skiing with other single friends of the same age , we were out every night drinking far too much, night clubs ,bars , the usual stuff , and through the whole week i didnt see a single lady of the night , i wasnt pesterd by anybody in any bar or club , i didnt even see a girl who looked anything like i imagined a lady of the night would look like , which left me rather dissapointed as i was curious to see what such a woman looked like!! so as for your "lads resort" sorry but as a lad ! i didnt see any thing like that. as for reps well i had much worse and our ingham reps were total wa&k$rs but every package you go on youll have reps trying to rip you off the not really reps at all just sales men in disguise. but glad to read you had a great holiday ,

The 'ladies of the night' are all over the Rila bar and nightclub, once you learn how to spot them there are quite a few. They don't bother you unless you go over to them or call them over to you. They also go nowhere near groups with women or children. Long black hair, white coats and dodgy shoes is usually a good way to spot them!

With this being a family orientated noticeboard they tend not to get mentioned that often, and whilst they are not really my cup of tea they didn't bother us at all. There is definitely a seedy undertone to Bulgaria, but unless you go looking for it you probably wouldn't notice it.
