Just returned from Pamps

Hi everyone,

just got back from Pamps yesterday morning and overall I must say I had a fantastic holiday Very Happy I was there last year end of January when the conditions were terrible (just mud and ice to ski on) but this year we were lucky enough to have plenty of snow to ski on and one of the best instructors called George who took the advanced group. He really spent time with us and improved everyone in the group massively! (we were skiing down the blacks by the end of the week something I ...

(we were skiing down the blacks by the end of the week something I never thought I'd manage)
we stayed in the Pamporovo hotel same as last year and apart from being surrounded by a very noisy group (5 rooms worth, and we were surrounded by them!) of Irish on our floor who came in P*ssed every night and then decided to argue from 3am till around 4am really took the shine of the overall experience I mean what's the point of going to a ski resort and not skiing??. Don't get me wrong I've been to Dublin and Cork several times and adore the Irish people before I get slated for racism or something like it just unlucky I guess. prices have gone up from last year but overall it's still pretty reasonable everywhere. the Bohemi cafe was our "local" on the slope and at lunch times a pot of very tasty Goulash or their home made Chicken broth plus a garlic bread and a large Kamenitza Booze came to only 14 lev. The White Hart is still very good value and food was really nice they also pull a nice pint of draught Guinness but it's 8 levSad.I think I'll definitely be looking to ski somewhere other than Bulgaria next year high up in the Alps perhaps but I'm sure I'll return again in the next few years as overall you can't really fault the place. anyone going in the next few weeks I'm jealous as most of the friends we made all said the same that the majority of instructors think March is a very good time to visit as there are usually always BIG dumps of snow in March according to them so you should have a great time.Any questions I'll try to help.

Cheers,

Neil

Vano I knew this would happen...I don't mind anybody enjoying themselves but just to have a little bit of compassion and respect for the people who like a bit of kip in the hotel rooms (I needed it after skiing from 9am through till around 4.30 everyday). I couldn't give a toss how noisy anybody is in the pubs,Clubs, streets or Hotel reception but just have a bit of respect in the corridors and rooms for other guests. I couldn't give a toss how noisy anybody is in the pubs,Clubs, streets or Hotel reception but just have a bit of respect in the corridors and rooms for other guests. We Know they didn't ski because my wife was ill for a couple of days and they never left the rooms during the day. like I said we were unlucky and asked to be moved so we didn't get into any arguments or spoil their fun. it just isn't what we like and everybody has their own ideas of having a good time. personally I can't understand going to a ski resort and not skiing surely cheaper to go to the local pub do the same thing and save a fortune Question

re: Just returned from Pamps

Thanks Neil
Was starting to feel a little gloomy about our chances of skiing as we are off on Saturday. Also good to hear that you reckon the hotel was ok as we are staying there too.

So I'm now praying for a good dump in March!! Some snow would be great as well. Hi to everyone that seems to be travelling out the same day, look forward to meeting you on the slopes and in the bars
