Hi everyone,
We just got back in the early hours of this morning from a fabulous week in Pamps. there is lots to report but basically, following after following the information and advice on this board we had a really good time.
The snow conditions weren't brilliant, but after looking at the weather forecasts before we went there was more snow than expected. It rained heavilliy until the Weds morning, this meant that a number of slopes weren't up to scratch and there were a few bad patches but was then followed by a good dump of snow and it was trying very hard to snow when we left yesterday. The hotel perelik was mucn better than we had expected and we received more thn 3 star service. Yes we were ripped off by some taxi drivers but tourists get this everywhere and we soon wised up. And yes, there were powercuts etc but nothing too drastic.
All in all a brilliant holiday and we would certainly go back again, have a wonderful time those of you still to go.
Looks like you are online.. could you tell me if I can hire all gear out there (including jacket and trousers etc.) as this is my first time and going on Saturday (though fly to London Friday) so don't have much time to buy anything and not really willing to either as I've never skiied before and not sure I'll get to for a while again either..
I can't really help you with the ski gear, I have my own so didn't really notice. ski clothing etc is alot cheaper there to buy than here but you will need to be ready on your first morning to be fitted with your boots and skis and then it will be straight into lesons. The first time skiers last week made excellent progress as the ski instructors are very good. Have a brilliant time. We didn't want to come home.
to maz
you will need a jacket at the very least as it is v cold untill you start to ski.
try to find a ski wear shop or outdoor specialist shop ( eg, scout shop ) at home who hire out jackets + salos (trousers), prices vary but are usualy arround £15-£20 each for a week. this is what i did on my first ski holl just incase i didnt like it. loved it and this is now my 6th year at pamps. have fun
