Hi, I skied badly about 12 years ago and am now taking my daughters skiing for the first time in February they will be 5 and 9. Does anyone know if you can either hire or buy helmets for the girls in Borovets and roughly how much. Many thanks.
Hi , I first skied about nineteen years ago, virtually no helmets then, but returned last January most kids had helmets and lots of adults. We bought our son a Helmet from Aldi before we went, good quality at affordable price, we will be buying Helmets for my wife and myself for this year from you guessed Aldi .
Last year all children's helmets in the resort (Borovets)were free to hire with the relevant ski school if you booked a full childrens package - ie: hire, lessons, lift pass etc.
I know the smaller independent ski schools are doing the same this year but not sure about the 2 larger ones.
You can also buy them in numerous shops in Borovets, but if you are planning on buying them it may be worth looking in the UK before you get here as you may get a better deal.
I totally agree and my girls will wear helmets just not sure whether to buy here and take with us or whether they are available in Borovets either as part of ski package or additionally to hire. Have booked them into age related ski schools for beginners, we have booked with Neilson but travel agent didn't know about helmets, might try an email to Neilsons direct.
At a guess if you have booked your package with Neilsons then unless you are staying in the Samakov hotel you will have your lessons with Borosports. That being the case then your kids will be given helmets as part of the package. If for some unbelievable reason they are not offered to you then they have have them available for children the ages of your kids for free or worse for hire. If you are not convinced then they are available in lots of places like lidl, Sports Direct or TK Makx. The ...

The health and safety exec would suggest that you should never hire a helmet just in case it has been damaged so if you do buy them, don't forget to try it with your goggles or you may end up having to buy new goggles as well. Also whilst they are not heavy they do take up a lot of room in your bag..

Keep an eye out in Lidls. Last year they had helmets for about a tenner. They are kite marked etc and absolutely fine. We also got lots of good quality ski wear for the kids from car boots/ebay - some of it hardly used.
My wife and I bought helmets for ourselves out in Boro and got a good deal in the shops in the Samokov with some help from Bobby.
