Knackered Or What?

Arrived back today after a long journey home from Killington.

Snow was brilliant as were the slopes, but no real resort centre and nightlife rather restricted.

Before I left there was some discussion on here about the costs of taxis in Bulgaria.......... TRY KILLINGTON !!!!

America is the only country I know where the taxi drivers charge per person rather than per trip. A 1/4 mile taxi ride cost $15 for the 5 of us, but it was so cold we had little choice if we wanted to eat out in ...

America is the only country I know where the taxi drivers charge per person rather than per trip. A 1/4 mile taxi ride cost $15 for the 5 of us, but it was so cold we had little choice if we wanted to eat out in the evenings. If 2 people went then it was just $6 which seemed a little crazy to us.

And being a smoker I found it very hard to stick to their 'no smoking ANYWHERE' policy that exists right through the state of Vermont.

Lifts were a little disappointing, there were 3 Gondelas but otherwise the lifts were no different to Pamps and they still have guys with hand held scanners scanning your lift pass, which was a little old fashioned considering the Pamps system.

Would I go back? No.
I really enjoyed the skiing, but I missed the Apres Ski and fun evenings that I always love when in Pamporovo.

We skied about 40 miles a day, covering all the greens, blues, reds, and most of the blacks. All runs have crazy names like Viper Pit, and Cruise Control. We named one black run Wellard, as it was like the Wall but 3 times as long and very mougally, but neither Angie or I fell once during the whole 10 days which we were really chuffed about.

Next year we intend doing 1 week in Bansko followed immediately after with a week in Pamporovo.

Nice to have tried something different, but I now know ..................... there is ONLY ONE BULGARIA. Razz

re: Knackered Or What?

pete you need to try other european resorts as well possibly find them more to your taste, the americans love to build things miles apart as they dont go anywhere with out there cars! why not do a week in pamps and a week somewhere else by the sounds of it you are both pretty good skiers and could use the challenge that the ski runs don't have in bulgeria

re: Knackered Or What?

Have tried several Sam.
France, Austria, Andorra, and yes you are right, the slopes in Pamps can be a little boring after a few days, but the overall experience of Bulgaria is better than anywhere else I have ever been.
