Some comments on buying lift passes have been unfair. Comments like 'rip off' because they are much cheaper in the UK.

The reason is two-fold. Firstly the UK travel agents buy in bulk for the complete season. Therefore they negotiate a really cheap rate and that is passed on to their customers.

Secondly it is all about keeping the lifts serviced, safe, and operational which costs money, and if you are in the resort without a pass you are gonna have to pay the going rate or you just can't ski. That's business the same as it is the world over. Captive audience and all that. Go to the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, they charge 2 pounds 30 p for a bottle of water. (sorry my pound key is not working.) That may also be seen as a rip-off but thats the going rate when you have no choice.

I sincerely encourage anyone who has not booked their ski packs to do so BEFORE setting off.

I know a guy who is flying this Sat who left it too late to book his pack, and has been quoted over 300 pounds by Going Places for the full pack in resort.

This board is here to help you avoid these shocks, so I you have not booked your pack and intend doing in the resort please take my advice and book it now before it is too late.

I understand your point of view. However, I was advised by my tour operater that it would be cheaper when we got to pamp. (more fool me should have known better) We are coming out on the 25th and cant wait (only just found this site today and it's been most helpful, sorry to here about your break in)

I'm not sure if its to late to book just a lift pass now? I'm going to ring them tonight to see what the score is. Me & my Girlfriend don't require lessons as we have been sking before. Just a lift pass.

If we're to late to get one from our operater, what would be the best thing for us to do?
