re: Lake Louise

I Just got back last week, Its amazing. Your best best is to locate yourself in Banff and get the tri-area lift pass(lake lou, sunshine village and mount norquay) lake lou is about a 40 min bus ride from banff town and is free with the lift pass. We had 4 seperate 16cm+ powder dumps in 2 weeks Very Happy
The season starts in mid november so you will be fine for christmas.

re: Lake Louise

Ive been to Banff, and yes its amazing, not problem with snow at all. Went on 22nd Dec - 5th Jan. Stayed at a hotel called the 'Inns of Banff', buses comes every 5 mins and you can go to either of the three resorts to ski, provided you have a tri area lift pass.

1)sunshine village
2) Lake Louise
3) Mount Norquay (Good But quite steep and small)

Plenty to do other than ski as well, therefore i would just book skiing for a week and then pay sperate when you get there for an extra ...

Plenty to do other than ski as well, therefore i would just book skiing for a week and then pay sperate when you get there for an extra day or too, then keep the rest of days free for site seening and a break from the slopes. As we stayed in banff we were able to do a day trip to Calagary (booked through our travel operator), it was great went to Canada Olimpic park an Shopping (Jan Sales!!). There are also plenty of other tours to do as well not to mention ice skating at the Banff Springs Hotel - well worth a visit!!!

Only drawback is the long flight and its very very cold. It was -40 on top of mountain some days. and -20 in banff town -so be prepared.

i hope this information is of help.

Heading to Bulgaria on 3rd Feb and parying that it snows!!

re: Lake Louise

Went 10 years ago, stayed at a place called Deer Lodge, we had a fantastic time, wonderful skiing, wonderful food. Ad finn says, extremely cold, I wore 2 pairs of gloves, but jumping into an outside hot tub in those temperatures is an experience.
If you hire a car you will need to plug it into an engine heater in the car park at night as the extreme low temps will freeze it otherwise.
Check out the exotic meats fondue at the Grizzly house in Banff
