Learn to Ski Packs?

Hi, If you pre-book a Learn to Ski Pack in the UK, are you able to join an intermediate instead of a beginners group?

re: Learn to Ski Packs?

As far as i know they're meant to be strictly for complete beginners who've never seen a ski (hire + lift pass bought separately usually works out a lot more expensive). But i think people have booked packs and simply not turned up to the lessons - it's a bit chaotic on the first day, there doesn't seem to be anyone ticking off names. Try searching old posts on this board for people who've done this. When you get there you could ask around with the instructors and arrange your own lessons. ...

Try searching old posts on this board for people who've done this. When you get there you could ask around with the instructors and arrange your own lessons. Our instructor charged us £5 a day (2-3 hours) of lessons privately and urged us to arrange privately with instructors upon arrival if we went back. That way you pay less and the instructor gets more. I should say we were a group of 4-5, and the instructor quoted £15-20 for a morning of one-to-one lessons. Also, I was a boarder and I don't think there are even lessons for intermediate boarders anyway.

re: Learn to Ski Packs?

I think with Balkan, there are learn to ski packs and ski lessons if I remember. When you get there, it doesn't matter though which you have booked. They will assess you and if you can ski, then you will not be in a beginners class. Depending on numbers, you may find intermediate and advanced classes, but if after the 1st day the class is not for you, try and get moved!

Where are you going and what departure date?

re: Learn to Ski Packs?

I always book the learn to ski pack for Pamporovo. Never had any problems done it with Balkan and Inghams. As said before you are graded on your first day so it really does not matter.

re: Learn to Ski Packs?

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

Liam, we are going to Borovets 5th March. We were there 3 years ago as beginners then and remember the first morning chaos! I thought there probably would be flexibility, but have read some posts about Ingham's learn to ski packs and "complete beginners" etc. Ideally we want to join up with one of the instructors we met then and have been in email contact with him.
