Lessons??

Hi All,

I am going skiing first week in February and have skied once before. I'm not sure wheither to to ski school again or have some private lessons. I didn't find the school great the last time. Any ideas.

Thanks,

re: Lessons??

Hi Maura,

Last year was my 2nd time skiing to Borovets. I would def recommend ski school, simply because its a great way to meet people and you usually have a good laugh!!

In the past i have supplemented ski school with a couple of private lessons. They are so cheap in Bulgaria compared to other places in europe.

We're out the 1st week of Feb too Very Happy

Thanks Hilly.

Don't get me wrong had a great time with in the school as made loads of friends just found that the instructor went at the past of the best in the class and they were very good. She had us on the reds by day 4. Neutral

I've never been to Bulgaria before so am looking forward to it. We are going to Pamporovo. Do you know of anyone who has gone there.

re: Lessons??

Hi Maura,
We've been to pamporovo for the last 2 years and are going again first week in Feb. My husband and I didn't do lessons the 1st year as we had been skiing before but last year we joined an intermediate class with our 10yr old while our 14yr old went with a snowboarding class. I think the classes are great for meeting up and having fun with other people and also the instructor knows his way around so you get your bearings much quicker than on your own. Hi Maura,

My son got private lessons after his classes as the snowboarding classes finish quite early. He loved the one-to-one and it brought him on a lot too. The only drawback with the classes is that the instructor will pace the lessons at a certain level, sometimes this means you have to try harder to keep up or alternatively you have to wait around a bit for others to catch up. As we are really only going for the craic, we will be joining a class again this year. I'm sure whatever you decide, you'll have a ball - we always do. Last year the instructor took the bravest ones from the class to ski down 'The Wall' on the last day. Needless to say I was a spectator at this particular point but it didn't stop my 10yr old! I'm sure no matter what you do, you'll enjoy it either way.

re: Lessons??

My two daughters, 11 and 13, who had never skiied before hated the ski school in Bansko so they had two private lessons for a couple of hours a time and were doing red runs by the end of the week. If you are confident go for the independent lessons.

I advise a few lessons to get yourself back in the swing of things

re: Lessons??

Thank you all for your help.

Think i'm going to go to the beginners ski school again (to make new friends :-) ) and see how I get on as thinking the intermediate might be a little to advanced for me. I'll def go for a few private lessons as they should really bring me on.

Really looking forward to going. Does any know what the Pampo resort is like

Hi Maura

My personal view is pamps is great - friendly atmosphere, small resort, fab ski school and apres ski is pretty good too.

At ski school you won't go to beginners again you will be put in a group with others who have all skied for 1 wk prior to hol saves you a day or so on nursery slopes. You will have a couple of runs to get your ski legs back and then do a quick ski test in front of the senior ski instructor and then be grouped accordingly ....this works really well. I have ...

I have been for the last 4 yrs and off again mid feb and would recommend both pamps as a resort and ski school. Have a fab hol Very Happy Very Happy
