Lift Passes in Borovets

Hi all, I'm off to Borovets on 25 Feb, I've heard the lift passes are a rip off out there, my tour operator is offering them for £58 before we go tho. Does anyone know how much they would cost out there and whether its worth getting them before we go?
Thanks!

re: Lift Passes in Borovets

Please do not use the phrase 'rip off' when you do not know the facts.

Lift pass prices in Bulgaria are substancially cheaper than almost anywhere else in Europe and the only reason they are cheaper with a travel agency is that they buy in bulk and sell them to their customers. You will not be able to purchase one in the UK unless you book it as part of your ski pack. The resort price is dearer, but that is the standard rate and is in no way a 'rip off'.

Firstly, I'm sorry if I caused offence by saying that - thats how it was described to me, but maybe that description was wrong. Secondly, I didn't mean to imply that people would be trying to rip us off purposely, just that the prices out there would be significantly more expensive than if purchased as part of our package and I was only trying to find out if that was the case, I don't think there was any need for such a defensive tone!

re: Lift Passes in Borovets

Te reasons the tour operators are able to get them so much cheaper is economies of scale - they buy in bulk - it's like buying at Tesco as opposed to going to the corner shop.
