Just got back from the Lion Hotel in Borovets and thought that I would let you all know what it is like. From the people that I spoke to around the resort it is considered to be the best, the staff are friendly, the drinks are the cheapest in the resort (90p for a pint of beer), rooms are fantastic, even a swimming pool which is not advertised anywhere. The only bad points to it are: the food is not great (but when you can get a massive meal out in the resort with a lot of drink for £5 ...

From the people that I spoke to around the resort it is considered to be the best, the staff are friendly, the drinks are the cheapest in the resort (90p for a pint of beer), rooms are fantastic, even a swimming pool which is not advertised anywhere. The only bad points to it are: the food is not great (but when you can get a massive meal out in the resort with a lot of drink for £5 each that's not a problem, a little out of the resort, but still only 10 mins walk or 10 levs for a taxi (£3.50), a suttle bus runs every 20 mins thoughout the day, so no need for all you skiers to worry about falling over in your silly boots on the way to the slopes. The main problem with it is that it is very warm especially when you come in from the cold, but we would complain if it is cold, so I suppose they can't win. Also be aware of the arrogant Germans. They think they own the place! Overall it is a fantastic hotel and excellent value for money. Would reccommend it to anyone.
Hi, Dave be careful with your warnings about the Germans. First of all not all of them are the same, secondly they are in such a minority that you really can't have seen them. But might be you just met the exception. Greetings from Berlin !
Borovets, we are coming.!!!!!!!!11
Hi, as you can see I'm so excited about the holidays to come that I pressed the button a few times. Don't care about it -it doesn't have any special meaning.
where did you hire your ski stuff? we will be staying at Lion and have pre booked but do you have to go into main area to pick up gear,? also great to hear a good report as i was getting worried as to what it would be like, when you say food not great is there much choice at breakfast as we have 2 kids with us?
We booked with Panorama and they and airtours get all there gear and tuition from The Samokov Hotel, you pick it up after the welcome meeting, can take some time to get it, which can be a bit frustrating as you want to get out on the mountain. The breakfasts should be OK for you, plenty of eggs, beans, cereal, toast, fruit, etc. The sausage and what they call bacon is not like what we have in England, but still fills you up till lunch. If the worst comes to the worst, there are some great ...

If the worst comes to the worst, there are some great places on the way to the slopes that do full Englishes, but everyone that I saw there ate in the Hotel.
Hope you have a great time, I'm sure you will. If you are with Panorama, have fun with the rep Ivo (he's a mad Bulgarian). Any other questions please just ask.
