Littel resort of Pirin and Rila or Pomporovo?

Yop

I Prepare our freeride trip from 07 March to 20 March (on paper)
Therefore we are going to Visit
Vitosha (2 days)
Pirin with Bansko (4/5 days)
Rila with Borovets (4/5 days)

But, we hesitate to go until Rodhopes for Pamporovo, because enough far from the others spots.
So, the small resort of Pirin and Rila are intrsting for a day (Malyovitsa, Bezbog, 7 lake Rila and s other than I do not know?) or it is better to go until Pamporovo (and chepeleare).
Thank for your answer and ...

Hi Gui,

I would advise you to try for a day the Bezbog area /you will be very close to it while in Bansko, so I think you might find it good to try it out just for a day/. The lift is generally rather old and the slopes are not very well treared but as you are aiming at freeride that shouldn't be a problem.

The same goes for the 7 Rila lakes area - while you are staying in Borovets. I think you will find very nice freeride options at that area.

I wouldn't recommend the Malyovitsa as it is more suitable for ski mountaineering I think.

In both cases /Bezbog and 7 Rila lakes/- you will be using your accommodations in Bansko ans Borovets - and still try new places. Thus you won't waste long time in travelling - as it would be the case if you go to Chepelare and Pamporovo.

Hi Gui,

The area near the 7 Rila lakes is Panichishte /this is where the ski fasciliies are located. http://www.bulgariaski.com/otherresorts/panichishte.shtml . There is only one chair-lift that serves the location - it starts from Pionerska hut and ends at Rila lakes hut. The resort is located above the city of Sapareva Banya /about 40 km from Borovets/. At Sapareva banya there are also hot-termal springs and several small SPA-hotels as well as a small geyser.

At Malyovitsa - there is one bigger drag lift, and another one that is really slow and rahter old, and a couple of baby-drags.

Another option in the area is a place called Kartala - in the Rila mountains. It is about 29 km from the city of Blagoevgrad. I haven't tried it personaly so far - but there is one gondola-lift. This might also be an option if you want to try different places.

You might also find some of the information in this site useful: http://randobulgarie.eu

Best regards,
Philip

Hi Gui,
Unfortunately there isn't much information about the Kartala on the net. You will have to ask local people while in Bansko or Borovets whether the lift will be working or not. The resort is generally a small one - mainly used by locals from Blagoevgrad. Have a sat view here: http://wikimapia.org/14774910/Ski-center-Bodrost-Kartala

You can find some pictures of the place here: http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/570780747JVoSsO
