I'm hoping that my weather watcher counterpart (Benson) will be round soon to confirm this, but the midday weather runs seem to have made a change for the better!
Currently, this is what it is saying:
1) There will be a light dusting of new snow this weekend with the freezing level dropping (good thing) until about Monday when the temperatures look to rise again (not so good!)
2) Things are still looking promising for a fairly large amount of snowfall from about the 20 -23 Jan. ...

2) Things are still looking promising for a fairly large amount of snowfall from about the 20 -23 Jan. However that is still too far ahead to have much confidence at this stage. We will have more confidence early next week I reckon.
3) Looking at other European weather charts and feedback from people out in resorts in the alps, the dreaded HP is starting to shift (finally!!!) which is bringing some good snowfalls to some western and southern alpine resorts. We are all just praying that the new LP will shift towards eastern europe which it looks like it just might.
All in all, it's not looking too bad at all at this stage.
Hopefully that snow due the 20th will creep forward... to say the 16th... we go 14th so i suppose even if it snows properly the 18th it will mean i've a chance of doing an intermediate run
