re: Lucky Bansk hotel

I have stayed there about 10 times in the last 13 months
You won't have any problems top hotel. The shuttle bus to the slopes runs every 30mins, about a 5-8 min trip.
Have a good time

Hi Snowball....I stayed there also. Top hotel*****

The courtesy bus to & from the gondola is second to none.
The bus is waiting for you outside the Happy End pub when you come off the slopes. It leaves every 15mins upto about 8.00pm giving you plenty of time for a few Apres Ski beverages.

The bus driver even stops for you in town if you attract his attention. He always seemed to stop at the Lion Bar incase guests were in there requiring a lift to the hotel.

Good service and well worthy of a tip!!! Dont expect much english from the driver!!

The breakfast is fantastic. They even recommend filling your pockets with fruit etc to have a snack on the slopes.
You will get used to the loud music/videos that are always playing downstairs in the retaraunt.
Please ensure you have all your paperwork if you are staying half board. Make copies incase you need to give your paperwork to the hotel. Mid week last year they told us that we were not entitled to half board, and told us we would have to pay for our meals!! Incidently the meals were first class!!!!

The nearest shop, which is a petrol station is about 600 yards away in the opposite direction to the gondola.

The swimming pool/ spa area is also fantastic. Please ensure you spen 20 mins each day on the heated tiled beds by the pool.....I still dream about them. Excellent after a hard day on the slopes!!!

The staff are very professional and courteous.

There is an excellent room to leave your ski gear in, just off reception. They even have ski boot warmers that ensure your boots are warm & dry each morning.

There are at least 2, if not three pay as you surf computers between the reception & bar area, for easy internet access.

The rooms are very luxurious!!! And the mini bar in the room isnt that expensive for a little mid night feast!!! And dont forget to take home your free slippers!!

The temperature in the hotel is set to very hot!!! I couldnt afford to keep my house heated to this temperature....but you get used to it. The rooms are a little cooler....Thank God!!!

The downsides to this hotel is its position in the Resort. It is at the far end of what I consider "town", and to walk to or from the gondola would take 20-25mins. ALso the area surrounding the hotel (last year) did seem like a cross between wartorn Beruit and a building site. Beware of the potholes....I wouldnt like to fall into one!!! Maybe they have finished the building already??

There is little or no atmosphere in the bar, as it is very small. Do not expect nightlife in the hotel!!! You will have to go out at night!!

Bansko is the best place in Bulgaria, if not Europe to Ski. You will have a great time. The skiing conditions there at the moment are perfect, and the gas shortages will not affect Bansko.

If you need any other info on the resort just ask!!!

re: Lucky Bansk hotel

Well (I own one of the 1 beds there) and have been 4 times now in a year. 1st stay outside the hotel was as above like a building site but as each time goes by things get better & better. When I was out in Nov08 they had started on making a proper road & path (tarmac) up to the hotel but they had only just got about a third of the way - not sure if its finished yet or not. I hope they make that road go all the way up to the bridge as walking back that way has been fun.

The actual Hotel/apart Hotel what ever you want to call it is very very nice & prices for food & drink there are town prices. There are 3 PC's/work stations near to the bar/in the lobby (24hr bar) which are free to use for the web.
The hotel is very very hot - I have taken a few people out there with me to stay and thats certainly one thing everyone comments on. Which is lovely in the cold.

Sauna facilities are fantastic, good sized pool, spas, those heated beds really work wonders on your back (I love drying off on them). Massage is very reasonable and very good.

Rooms - the beds are really comfortable and big you have 2 TV's with lots of channels some film channels & news & docu mostly English. Its a Wifi hotel so free to log on.

Mini bar is as said above reasonably priced.
You can also cook yourself in every room if you wish as they all have kitchens.

They have a Mini market next to the entrence which is where I buy my 3ltr bottles of Pirinski - its no different to the big supermarket and I dont have to carry it. Also has bread, milk, chrips, and IIRC stuff to cook.

The supermarket is very close too think 5 mins incl waiting to cross the road and thats very good.

Near to LuckyBansko beside the bridge (up toward the mountain) there is a really nice Mehana on the corner it has live music every night.

re: Lucky Bansk hotel

first bus 8am
tips upto you but I do tip as the staff do look after me.
childrens room is great and the nanny in there is really nice.
The complex is now complete with the 2nd building all finished as well.
There is now a completed road from the main road and full street lighting. A bowling alley and another parade of shops and the London pub have opened at the begining of the road to the complex. 2 mins across the road is a casino in aother Hotel.

If you want coffee makesure you ask for nescafe with milk. Nice and milky.
Some of the aprtments do have fires in but are well protected by covers etc
