Going to Bansko on 25 th Feb, the first year with our own boots. is it better to pack them in case or buy a boot bag and put them through in that? Do you think we will be ok with 20 kg allowance or do we need to ask for more. Put boots on scales and they come in around 5 or 6 kgs......
all our cases weighed more than 16kg last week so you may have to pay xtra if you fit your boots in . i put 2 boards and 2 boots in 1 board bag and paid 17.50 xtra so it may work out the same.
Id buy a ski boot bag. There not expensive. I travelled balkan. Had no problem putting my skis and boot on free of charge. My total weight was probably 35kg. Although i was in a group of 6 and some peoples luggage was under 20kg.
If you travel balkan. don't try taking your boots as hand luggage. Very small overhead lockers on plane, and you definitely don't want them under your feet.
Balkan are pretty good on the baggage allowance, I have only been charged once for excess baggage and my baggage is always over, if you can get them in your case then do that otherwise just get a boot bag.
dont ask for more allowance just see what happens at airport.
