Mafia?

I'm going to borovets on 22nd Jan for a week, and was just looking about the net for other stuff to do there other than ski.

Then i came across the following 'reviews', ok they are from a couple of years ago and to be honest i'm not overly concerned any way as i've read o whole lot of good reviews than i have bad.....

http://www.goski.com/rbul/borovets/1rev2.htm

But i was wondering if anyone has heard of similar stories recently, or can completely dis-spell anything like this.

re: Mafia?

Dont worry about the mafia, you are a tourist bringing the money into the resort you will be fine.

re: Mafia?

Those Mafia guys are really quite friendly. They dont mind the brits too much, so you should have nothing much to worry about

re: Mafia?

Most of them have been killed off due to the up and coming joining of the EU. But there again the organiser of our skischool last year looked like Tony Suppranno's Bulgarian cousin. On a more positive note anyone who has ever stayed at the Rila will know of the private elevator lift with the big burley bodyguards to help you carry your stuff, Maby its for the 4* rooms

re: Mafia?

The Bulgarian Mafia are called the Borzi (not sure on spelling but that's how it's pronounced).

You will see them in Borovets hanging around with the hookers in the strip clubs or in a few of the shady out of town bars drunk raki.

They look more like farm hands than the slick, suited Italian mafia we know and love.

Just avoid them and they'll avoid you- best not to piss them off, but then why would you?
