Mud, ice and bolders is great fun .... NOT!

I don't much about Bulgaria but the regulars seem to think this is normal and it's 'usually' fine in January. I know from other places I have been where I was basically sun bathing one day as it all turned to slush around me with rocks and all sorts sticking out all over the place! One big dump of snow in the night and it was a different world the next day and for the rest of the week.

At the moment the forcast says loads of snow for a few days and the webcam seems to back it up.

I suppose if theres no snow the day before you fly out you could be a tad concerned but it can change over night. I have no reason to beleive Bulgaria will be any different! Does anyone else?

Tel, all I can suggest is stop worrying. We are going out on the same day, and we aren't. This will be the fourth time I've been to Bulgaria (first time Pamporovo), and I've always been able to ski. One thing I can say with 100% certainty, is that the snow forcasts from all the various sites are CRAP !!!. I worried myself sick last year, no snow, none forecast, my god !......it didn't stop for the first three days we were there. Relax.

It will get better, it always does...................................................................

go on, who is going to be the next person to ask "what about the snow situation", this isn't a dig at anyone, but repeatedly asking the same question gets people down.

I have ski'ed on meters of soft lovely snow and on ice/rocks before, you will have fun whatever especially if its your first time. In my opinion obviously the more snow the better but if there is at least a good grounding of 5 to 10cm's then its a minimum for good skiing, I would be more worried about the crowds looking at the web cams.

Its never too late for snow, and in Pamps they took the beginners to some slopes on the top of the mountain early this year where there is a rope drag lift. Much better up there.
