Making your own way from Sofia?

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a public bus to Borovets from Sofia? Or via somewhere else? I wanted to make a boarding holiday part of a longer trip i.e. not a package with transfers. Anyone else done the same? Any tips?

I have a Bulgarian mate in Samokov near Borovets. He always picks us up and I am sure he would you for a small fee to cover time/petrol. He is a great "safe" driver too. Steve

Hey Alison , you can ride by bus no problem.
Look for the website of sofia-airport.bg , you have to go by bus or taxi to the Busstation South, Avtogara Jug from there the buses run to Samokov town, cost 3 or 4 lev ( twice in a hour 0' and 30'). From Samokov you take the minibus to Borovez, last leaving Samokov 17.30 or a taxi. Bus 1 lev taxi 8 to 10.
