This is maybe a dumb question, but it just occurred to me that i sit around and check snow reports every year but i have no idea how much snow is needed to be able to ski.
Does anyone know what measurements of snow are needed for decent skiing?
Well its not a dumb question as there is no specific answer, the amount of snow required to be able to ski is dependent on the ground, on lower slopes that are grassed or relatively smooth, a relatively small amount is required, however on rougher ground then deeper cover will be required to cover the rocks and stones etc, in bansko the top slopes have some larger rocks so a good depth is required to be skiable, lower down from shilli for instance the ground is relatively rock free and ...

Therefore measurement is piste specific, if you know what I mean.
