Message For Steve C

Hi Steve,
if i understand correctly you are living out in Bansko?

If that is correct is there any chance you can give all us Bansko investor an update on what is happening in the town at the moment - with regards to development as opposed to teh Jazz festival.

I mean things like whether there is much activity in terms of unfinished building now being finished, whether roads and paths have been improved, relaid? Whether street lamps have gone in etc etc I'm sure you get my drift.

I understand that some of the Russian tour operators refused to send people to Bansko last year because of the complaints about the mess of the place. Wondered if the Municipality were doing much to address this.

thanks in advance,
Uptheowls!

Hi Uptheowls...
Well, i`ll do my best. There is activity on most sites, to my mind there has not been the massive rush to build this year that we have seen in the past. A couple of new roads have been laid, one near to the new shopping mall which comprises of a circuit, another just at the end of my road, which will form part of the ring road when complete. We have had our paths laid, and i have seen paths being repaired on Pirin Street. Cables for telephones and tv have also been connected ...

We have had our paths laid, and i have seen paths being repaired on Pirin Street. Cables for telephones and tv have also been connected and have extended as far as us in Stefan Karajda Street. Basically it still is a building site, but there is visable progress. Do not expect though for it to be finished this year or next even. I would figure about four, and that does not take into account any new developments. It does occur to me though, who pays for the footpath repairs, the upkeep of roads and installation of street lamps etc, the local tax is so low i dont know how they finance it ???

Anyway, i wil keep my ear to the ground and my eyes open....

Hi Steve C,
thanks for that - much appreciated. Agree about the timescales 4/5 years were my thoughts when i was there in Jan & Feb. Just wish they would tidy the visible areas round the traffic lights next to the happy end, make sure bins were emptied and make it look at bit neater generally. I appreciated they are limited to what they can do by the building works but i'm sure they could do more than they appeared to do last winter.

Anyway - cant wait to come back in February, ...

Anyway - cant wait to come back in February, regardless of what the town looks like the mountain is still spectacular!!

Thanks again,

Unfortunatley there were still enough Russians (and Brits) there at New Year to overcrowd the mountian, make the Gondola queue over an hour and empty the resorts ski hire supplies!!
