Whats the latest on your Balkan'' Bargain?'
I guess like me you got a letter on Saturday?
I have not been able to speak yet to the author of the letter,however I have spoken to a travel agent I know who said although a little spurious the booking which we made should be good .
It's my suggestion that if Balkan are not willing to honour their offer we all club together and challenge them in the small claims court!
Whats your wifes view on the matter (I think you mentioned it is she who has some legal traning behind her.

Anyway, nothing new to report as yet. I didn't realise you'd booked the holiday as well. We've had our letter as well (which we were told we would receive) but it's a bit vague as to what the final outcome is. If there wasn't a contract in place they would just tell us that we haven't got the holiday, but at the same time, cancelling it would mean them admitting that there is a contract in place. I think they haven't done either of these because there is a contract in place and they are legally bound. I'm going to post a new thread and try and get a list of people who have booked the holiday so we can see how many of us there are.

It wasn't necessarily an obvious mistake. It is fair to say that the price could have been a loss leader from Balkan. You see these in business quite often, such as Ryanair's flights for 1 pence and supermarkets selling beans for a few pence. The whole idea of a loss leader is that, that particular product makes a loss (or just no profit) but the company make a profit that far outweighs the loss on other products (such as everything else you buy in the supermarket) or on future potential earnings from repeat purchase (such as next time we go on holiday we'd use Balkan and also recommend to friends and family). So it is fair to say we were not being dishonest when booking.
