Mobile Phone Coverage in Bulgaria

Hey All..

Leave for Pamps tomorrow (bring on the snow pleeeeez!)

Need to know what mobile networks are available in Bulgaria - saw an obviously old page that listed Voda & Cellnet (! - now O2 and has been for quite some time!)

Anyone got any more recent info. My fiancee & myself are going & we'll be doing separate stuff in the AM & need the mobiles to meet up!

MTel and Gobul but if your phone is freed up for international use it will pick up one of these automatically.

Very expensive to use - unless you get a local SIM card which are available in several local shops.

A twin sim card pack is on sale in Alaska supermarker for around 20 lev. Buy a couple of top-up cards and you are ready to go - well, after a few hours or overnight because it seems to take a while for the sim card to actually activate. Did this with my kids in January and it was MUCH cheaper than staying with our UK provider.

But, your phone has to be unlocked for it to work...

your going on holiday, do you really need to be in contact with back home, just switch off for a week and enjoy the break away from home and work.

or use email, some places in Borovets have computers, i used them last year, 5 leva for 1 hour of PC use, brilliant!

I got coverage everywhere in Bulgaria but I still can't phone home from the highlands.

We were able to text but not call on our phones while in Pamporovo (one on O2 and one Orange) they both automatically transferred to mtel. I have no idea why the calls wouldn't work but no suffering occurred as a consequence
