Bulgaria Ski discussion board

Hi All,just got back from BG on sat,and had a fantastic time.Bit cold the first few days and loads o snow and second half of the week was blue skies and sunny. Had some great skiing in Pamps and got our skies etc from bulgaria ski. One of our party had a misshap and twisted a ligament in his knee but it didn't stop him from Skidooing down the slopes at the Snowboard Park in Momchil naked . Anyway gotta plug the Snowboard Park above Momchilovtsi. We spent a day there all 16 of us and loved it . Half of us had our first snowboard lessons and found it quite easy and also we used the Skidoos [60 lev for 2 people and 45 for 1]. The slope was virtually ours for the day ,a cheap bar ,cheap equipment and views over the Pirin mtns, Staraplana mtns,Rhodopi mtns and across the Greek ones too. To get there ,either go to Momchilovtsi village and up thro it .Branch left towards Rozen and you will come across it.OR coming from Pamps, turn left at the Hotel Rozen [the only turning there],towards the observatory and keep going for about 3 miles and you will come across it . You won't regret it ,its ideal for learners too without the queues. Ask for Bobo the manager .

A crowd of us also recently went to the Snowboard Park when we were staying in Momchilovtsi at Four Seasons Retreat. I agree that the Snowboard Park is ideal for family fun and for ski and snowboard learners without the crowds and it is only a short drive from the village.

We had loads of fun playing around on sledges and bum boards while all the kids were snowboarding . We also hired out a skidooo and went up to the top where the wide open spaces are ideal for skidoo-ing without getting in the way of the skiers and snowboarders and, as Nigel says, the views from the top are fantastic. It is a fun place with a climbing wall for the kids as well. Also, because it is just outside the resort the prices aren't so expensive.

We went up to the snowboard park on our second day in 2 cars and just as i was 300 mtrs away my phone rang and Bobo [the manager ] said dont bother to come up as it was very blowy and as the snow was drifting the last 200 mtrs of road would be blocked and he was packing in for the day .I said " dont close the bar yet i can see you and ima comin thro" the road was blocked 2 mins later with my car spinning on its axels ha ha ! I was towed out by Bobo 30 mins later and thus enabling the other 6 cars to get out .Great experience tho and we all got treated to some rakia as we waited .
I had a bit of buisiness to do the next day and only managed to get up there for a hour costs me 2 lev for the ski pass. 12 of us had soups, bread,rakia, coffees, brandy chocolates,and several beers 50 lev !!!!!!! You don't get that in Pamps.
