Forgot to mention in earlier messages - take Levs and/or UK £. We got 2.60levs / £ in the UK before we went but at the hotel Rila foreign exchange it was 2.80levs/ £. + no commission. Also cashpoints available in Iglika and Rila if stuck. Small denoms if possible as they never seem to like changing 50lev notes
That's great news - the cashpoint in the Iglika must be new. I wouldn't let M&S give me 50 Lev notes, cleared them out of 20's and 10's. Got 2.75 lev to £ at M&S the other week.
Hey peeps, someone i was talking too on the coach last year on the way back to sofia got scammed in borovets. There are a few minors that offer foreign exchange, but if you part with your cash, your get pieces of newspaper cut into the shape of money or even counterfit money. As soon as the deal has been done, you wont find the person again that did it! The neilson rep told my group last year that the foreign exchange in the Hotel Rila is the best place to use, he wouldnt use anywhere else. ...

SO DONT GET SCAMMED!
P.S the cash machine is next to the cable car lift station (gondola)
There is also a cash machine up the road from the Gondola - it's attached to a little bank. I went to the Cash Machine at the Gondola last year and walked away from it - it had a very odd looking device attached and I wasn't prepared to risk it - the one by the bank was fine.
Nightmare, is that right about the 50's, my travel agent never mentioned it and I've ended up with 6 of the damn things!! Looks like I might be taking them back for smaller notes
