Going to Bansko in Jan have read that if u take English money to exchange into Lev that it has to be brand new notes or they may refuse to exchange them is this true can anyone advise ??
In all my previous visits to Bulgaria, It was always best to have new or unmarked sterling notes in £10's or £20's, never tried a £50, however it may be easier to change to levs before you go!
i took unmarked notes, non new & have had no problem this week in borovets. Check the rate you are getting before signing for the exchange, someone got ripped off by £20 in a £100 transaction, the outside advertising Board had a substantially different rate to the board displayed in the booth.
