Bulgaria Ski discussion board

I've booked a ski holiday in Pomporovo at the end of January for my wife and two daughters (7 & and our combined knowledge of skiing is zero. Would it be wise to have a couple of lessons before we go ? (we have learn to ski packs) I've pretty much begged, borrowed and ebayed most of what we'll need to wear, except moon boots. Is it best to buy some in the uk or wait till we arrive in Bulgaria ? Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.

hello soul man. are you goings to the moon. i thinks if you are going to the moon you will need boots because the moon is dusty and if yous wears your best going out shoes your wife will tell you off when you get backs and then you will be in the dog house. and then the dog will thinks what is he doing in my house. i do not mind him being in my house but i wish he'd take his dusty shoes off. my advices is get some boots. when are yous going to the moon soul man. please come back on the board of informations and tell us what it was like. bye, bye soul man

Moon Boots!!!???? God NO man dont what ever you do get moon boots! Not a 80's child by chance? Just get yourself a pair of walking type boots something with a rubber sole you only need them for the short hop to the ski locker.

As for lessons it is really a personal choice. If you get a couple before you go you stand more chance of progressing quickly and getting more out of your holiday, but dont be pushed into thinking you have too. Learn to ski group is a great laugh and you bond very quickly with everyone. Enjoy

As for lessons - make sure that if you are going to a dry slope you finish lessons at least six weeks before you go.

WHY - lots of upper limbs get broken on dry slopes by falling and it being a very hard surface. I've seen it happen when I dry skiied - a lady broke her wrist on the first of three lessons and it scuppered her holiday plans - they were going 3 weeks later.

If you can get to one of the real snow slopes at Milton Keynes, Tamworth or Castleford, whilst it's a little more expensive, it's worth the extra cost.

I'm not allowed to ski for another 10 days cos I had wrist surgery at the beginning of September and wouldn't dare go on a dry slope before I go for real on 5th Feb so I'm off to Milton Keynes this year for a bit of skills brushing up before I go.
