More questions?????

Dear All of you who've been to Pamp before,

I have been doing a bit of research on this site - it looks like the ski hire place and ski school are close to the Malina chalets, is that right?

If so is it in walking distance of the Hotel Pamporova? How long in time ish?

What time do the buses start in the a.m?

I have booked 6x4hr lessons - is that split between morning and afternoon?

Do you have to go to every lesson? - I learnt to drive in less time than that! Is skiing ...

Do you have to go to every lesson? - I learnt to drive in less time than that! Is skiing really that difficult??

There seems to be alot of comment about the uncomfortableness (is that a word?)
of ski boots (Judith!!) Is there anything I could take with me to help? I have bought 3 pairs of ski socks but what are theses squashed fruit gum things and were can you get them?

I'll have to go soon as I've got to go and teach aload of 9year olds netball - Oh Joy!!
Its 3 degrees outside so an hour running about outside should give my new socks a good workout!!

Also - fisrt time I've ever used a discussion board since discovering this site a couple of week ago, what is this moaning guy going on about, is it Tom?
Surely he can just read what he wants and leave the rest. Stop moaning - this board is great

re: More questions?????

Hi Kathryn,

Well, the Malina chalets are about 1/4 mile from the ski depot, to walk from the Pamporovo to the depot will take you about 20 minutes but why bother when the busses are free. Buses start at about 9am, ski school runs from 10.30 till 12.30. then 1.30 till 3.30. You can leave ski school if you wish, but why would you want to, it is great fun and you can free ski from 3.30 till 5pm if you wish.

People still use ski school after 20 years, the lessons just get more and more ...

You never stop learning, even the instructors will tell you that.

Boots, buy your own is my advice. The most important part of your equiptment. Bad boots = bad holiday, don't risk it. You can get an excellent pair for 50 quid in Pamps that will last forever and really really comfortable.

re: More questions?????

Hello,
I'm sure you will be skiing ok after your lessons, when I first went skiing I learned to ski in about the same amount of lessons. At the end of the lessons, It wasn't pretty! but I was skiing the slopes and enjoying It.
As for the squashed fruit gum thingys I think they are wine gums and you will probably find them squashed in one of the pockets of your pupils duffle coats!!

Very Happy

re: More questions?????

re soft gums things - pop into your local chemist / boots / supermarket and have a look for the shoe/feet area where you can find blist-eze things etc which you can use on any blisters or soreness you may get from badly fitting boots. I think the message is to take some supplies with you as you may not be able to buy them when you are out there. Very Happy Booze

re: More questions?????

as pete says buy your own boots.
we had a few hours on a dry slope before we went, achy feet after about 10 mins. the boots we bought were fine, even after 4-5 hours.
although having said that the new boots at the school looked decent enough
