Nervous

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can let me know - if the prices are too good to be true?!!! I've skied a number of times - my travel agent has recommended Bulgaria to me - the price is so reasonable!
A friend has told me that it's not great for experienced skiers and that the hygiene standards are not great. Can someone let me know some reasuring details!
What is the snow like in Feb/March?

Thanks

Katz!

Hi katz

prices are still good in bulgaria. I also skied a several times France, Austria, Germany. Last 5 years i went to borovets in march for 1 week and for me its big enough for one week skiing. Snow in march 1 times whas bad other times their whas plenty.

re: Nervous

bulgaria is very cheap, as dutchman said the resorts are not as big as the french ones but really good for a week or so. hygine has been great at the three hotels i've stayed in, although i would try to get B&B rates at the hotel as breackfasts are ok but evening meals are often poor. we always eat out as the local food is delicious (even for vegs), i've never spent over £100 for the week and that includes all food and drink etc.

re: Nervous

Thanks for your replies guys.
Just wondering which resort you would recommend - keeping in mind there will be 1 experienced skier and 1- 2nd timer in the group? I'm a little more inclined to go towards Borovets from reading the comments made by skiers and also the map outlining the different slopes looks a little more varied.
looking through the brochures the packages all quote 1/2 board basis but if it's as cheap as you say to eat and drink out it won't really matter either way.

re: Nervous

Hi

Never been to bansko, but have skied both Pamporovo and Borovets.

Pamporovo is good for the first timer, but no alot for the more advanced skier. Borovets has a bit more to ofter, best suited for the "skied once or twice" to intermediates. Snow record is better in Febuary than march.

Hotels are not upto same standards as western europe, but no hygine problems. A four star bulgarian hotel, is more like a three star UK hotel.

Dont Worry.

re: Nervous

bansko is the best i've been to so far, lot quieter than the other places, plus the town has a nice charm to it. most of the lifts are new and due to the height you get a lot of snow. some of the runs are a bit on the difficult side for beginer but my freind was a first timer last year and he loved it. lots of challanging reds for the more advance but only one black run. your instructor took is off piest at no extra charge, that was a lot better and you would never get that in france
