The government will allocate funds, to start investments for Plovdiv airport, which will support Sofia airport, announced the minister of transport Mr Petar Mutavchiev.
The modernization of the airport in Plovdiv will help for the development of tourism in Rodope Mountain and the southern parts of Bulgaria, said the minister, who was on official visit in Plovdiv, together with his Greek colleague Michael Liapis. A brand new terminal has to be build for short period. The new terminal will not only service the civil aviation, but also be used by the Ministry of Defense, explained Mutafchiev.
The Minister stated that he has already discussed the subject with the Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev. Greece and Bulgaria will discuss the modernization of the road Plovdiv – Smolyan and the improvement of the road connection from Sofia to Thessalonici.

I was amazed this year with the improvements that had been made in the existing terminal. Literally 5 minutes after stepping off the coach, we were in the departure lounge (well room).re: New Terminal at Plovdiv on the cards
I was there in January and thought that all the previous comments were most unfair. Its not a cow shed. Its a scout hut..............!
