Hi Kaizen

I spent a new year in Borovets about 4 years ago and it was fantastic. Really great value for money and such a lovely setting as the whole resort is set in pine trees. I have been back loads but just not at new year due to other commitments. There was a massive fireworks display and everyone gathers at the bottom of one of the main slopes at midnight. On the snow front it is early in the season so clearly base levels will not be as much as later on, however I know that they have ...

Borovets is a really family friendly resort and there are nice slopes for beginners and if you need any advice on where to stay or hire etc then please just reply here.

re:New Year in Borovets

Hi Kaizen,
My family and I have been to Borovets on several occasions including New Year two years ago, I agree with Del boy it is great at New Year. So much so we are going again this year from the 28th Dec. Snow coverage especially for beginners has been improved greatly due to Borosports investment in more snow cannons covering more of the nursery and beginner slopes. Natural snow at this time of year is more hit and miss though. There are plenty of people on this forum that can give ...

I hope you take the plunge and if you do we look forward to seeing you there.

All the best

re:New Year in Borovets

Hi Kaizen,

The atmosphere in Borovets is amazing at New Year in fact, Bulgarians tend to celebrate it more than Christmas.
There is a big firework display and you can sit at any restaurants or go onto the slopes and watch them. It tends to get very busy with tourists and locals so you need to make sure that you book yourselves somewhere if you want to eat / drink out.

In terms of the snow, New Year tends to have less snow than the later months of the season but it is so difficult to judge! All the Rila slopes except 1 now have cannons as do 2 of the 3 Yastrebets slopes so even if the real snow fails to come, you will still be able to ski.

Hope this helps and don't hesitate to ask if you need any more help.
