Hi all,
Going to boro for the second time, but first time over the new year.
How busy is it likely to be, que's for Gondela, bars etc.
Am going with wife and 2 kids (11 and 9).
Whats New Years eve like!
Any info comments welcome.
The resort will be busy and the que`s will be a nightmare unless you are up at the crack of dawn.
New years eve will be 2nd to none as you celebrate the Bulgarian new year at midnight and you will find that the Brits will celebrate again at 02.00hrs ( midnight UK time)
New Year is fab, I was there last New Year and I have never had such a good new year.
The lifts are only busy if the gondola is shut for any reason. I actually found that it’s better to go for a good breakfast and hit the ski lifts / gondola a little later on when the masses are already up the mountains.
You will have the best new year you've ever experienced.
This will be our third new year, great atmosphere and the fireworks are just awesome. Get yourself to the front of the Rila for about 11.45 and enjoy! Also worth taking cover once the main fireworks have gone as the kids start collecting the duds and then light them and throw them up the slopes etc....
Some places will be tickets only so decide where you want to eat and book in advance if necessary.

We've never found the queues too horrible - little tip for you (don't tell anyone else); if the gondola queue is all the way back to the Flora then jump in a cab and go to the Yasterbrates four man chair lift (check with one of the offices what time it opens and that it is running), it'll cost about 10lv but once the lift starts going it's so quick, and it will give you access to the three Yasterbrates red runs. There's also the Yasterbrates Hotel up there now so there is even somewhere to stop and eat/drink without having to go back to resort level.
