and white majic opposite samakov hotel.be careful when changing money at the booths as its easy to get ripped off. if you do just start dismantling the thing like my wife did.it really upsets them and she did get our friends money back.or you could use the bank, you have one in your hotel.steve g

Last year my wife and I spent less than £400 (probably around £300) between us on food and drink for the week and we were self catering. We ate out every lunch and dinner. Breakfast was the only meal we had in the apartment.
Neither of us a massive drinkers, so didn't rack up huge bar bills every night. Although we did have the odd night with a few drinks in Bobbys Bar Very Happy

Most of our lunches were had at Bistro BL Sport, just by the main gondola - really good and varied menu.
I would also recommend to anyone going to try some of the local dishes, not only are they really cheap, but they're really nice too.
Also most places will force-feed you their own brew Rakia - which isn't necessarily a bad thing, although it takes some getting used to at 9am! Very Happy

Afternoon,

Just got back on Saturday from our third trip to Boro this year, love it, its not your three valleys but who cares. People are very friendly, and staff at ski depot remembered us from last time (9mths ago).

I came back with 102 levs (£45)..... out of 580 levs (i took £250)..... We were half board (Iglika) package incl lift and ski/boot package. We eat at several places, and lunch (pizza or pasta with drink) came to about 12levs (£5) each. Happy hour in most places are 241 ...

Drinks in Rila bar in evening for 3 of us (3-4 drinks each) around 45 levs.

As long as they get more snow, or temp drop so cannons can be used, skiing will be good.

We will enjoy it, just remember its Bulgarian style so forgot French ways :-)

re: Newbie Leaving for Borovets next weekend! Advice please!

Try Bobbys bar, try Franco's, try Marmacitas, try white magic!

As people have said you'll have more than enough with £400 each, i usually take £250 for myself staying Half Board at the Iglika, i eat out every lunchtime and probabaly 2 of 5 nights. I usually grab a kebab on the way home too!! I drink quite a lot most nights as well and find £250 to be enough

You'll love Borovets!!

re: Newbie Leaving for Borovets next weekend! Advice please!

Thanks Chris

We are thinking of doing the Skidoos and poss treating ourselves to a massage or two... We're not massive drinkers but do like to be out and about in the evening soaking up the atmosphere!

We were in Spain in summer and met a couple who are heading out to Borovets the week after us, they go every year and stay in the Rila, they love it!

I am just soo excited 2 days of work to go before my leave starts! and then Sunday Borovets here we come!

re: Newbie Leaving for Borovets next weekend! Advice please!

dont know what they call it but its the only one under the gondola at the top.that said its difficult to say from season to season as some owners and staff move around.good chef's are like gold, and can change the reputation of a cafe in an instant.perhaps someone out there can tell us whats good this year.[bobby's and white majic goes without saying.somewhere else as well yeah]
