Newbie Questions

Hello All,

I'm going out to Borovets on the 14th of February for a quick 4 days skiing and since I'm a noob, I wanted to ask a couple of questions. It looks like I'm staying at the Rila and I wanted to know a bit about the nightlife in the area. I'll be on my own so any suggestions on where to go would be appreciated. What about currency? Change it before I go or change it in town? I'll be changing dollars so will that make a difference? Lastly, are there any maps I can download that have ...

Lastly, are there any maps I can download that have the bars, restaurants, places of interest on them?

Thanks.

re: Newbie Questions

Maps don't know of one cos it changes every season nearly, bars you cannot miss them out of the Rilla and you have a mile of bar/restaurants.
Kas and Bobby have a meet so look out for that nearer your departure time on here and you will meet loads of new people wanting to meet you...
Everyone talks to everyone in Boro, everyone is friendly so you will find people to join and ski with on here so keep tuning in and join in the conversation.
Rilla is ok you choose well.

There are a few bars you will pass through on the first night and you suss it out quickly, live bands and music but also sports bars and the like so whatever your angle you will be fine....

re: Newbie Questions

Cheers Martin. Its the typical thing when its your first time. You never know until you get there but I hope its fun.

What about the dress code? I'm sure its all over the place but do people generally dress up or down there? I'm in my mid 40's but still acting like a teenager! Wink

re: Newbie Questions

Don't dress up. As for changing money, i'd use a cashpoint. I've been by myself before, you wont be short of things to do assuming you like to eat and drink. If you can ski, you can ski up to 10.30pm which might fill a void.

re: Newbie Questions

Appreciate your help.

What about ski hire and lift pass, etc? Is it better to book in advance or when I get there? I'll only be skiing for 3 days. Can I get all of this stuff at the Rila?

re: Newbie Questions

You can do either. Peace of mind might suggest book in advance, plenty of places do a 3 day package. You can get stuff in the Rila but the condition of it may not be what you want. You may be better off booking in advance and from elsewhere but that is just my opinion.

re: Newbie Questions

OK. I saw one of the posts here that said Hunter Ski Club was a good place to get the package from so I've gone ahead and booked with them. Complete pack for 3 days for Euro 145 including all equipment, ski pass and lessons. Long way to travel but cant wait!
