Newbie to Bulgaria

Hi

I am thinking of taking a holiday in Bulgaria having done many seasons in France...

Whats the skiing like and how does it compare to Europe or should I say the rest of Europe?

Is the language a barrier?

How much is a lift ticket???

Any comments would be Great!!!

Thanks Ian

if your an experienced skier I would go to bansko runs are more difficult, lift pass about £100, dont know where you have skiied in France, I would say bulgeria is different bansko has about 65km of runs comparing that to a lot of french resorts it can be limiting.

there is no real language barrier most people speak english

cost wise beer around £1 a pint, food three course meal for two with wine around £15 for the two, this is where bulgeria makes up for it.

people are more open on the slopes and less possing in designer gear.

I would say give it go best time is from the end of Jan to mid march ish.

Been there a couple of times, It's pretty good, but the hire equipment is a bit past it's best. Buy the ski pass from the tour operator. They are very expensive if you buy them in the resort.

People are friendly and helpful. Food is good and cheap. I had a great time with no real problems

re: Newbie to Bulgaria

The hire equipment we had last week in Bansko was all brand new. They were ripping the labels off as they handed it to us.

It seems everyone speaks English too, so language not a problem at all.
