Newbies Feb 2012

Hello,

I am looking into our first skiing holiday to Bulgaria. We have 6 pax (3 couples) ranging in ability (and ages mid 20's - mid 50's) and I was wondering which resort would be most suited? We would like to sort out the whole shebang ourselves but we are finding it hard where to begin. We are more interested in the skiing rather than the apres-ski. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Merby

I have been to Borovets and Pamporovo and enjoyed both however if you can already ski I would have to say Borovets as I think the skiing there is more varied and
even challenging if required.

Bansko is really good especially if you have a group of varied levels. skiing is exellent, around 70km of pieste but very challenging in areas.

Apres-ski can be either low key, eg good resturant and a couple of beers or more lively if you look for it, food wise excellent very good mehenas and also english pubs and resturants serving good food.

Transfers Steve c on here is excellent and he can also help with ski passes, hire ect. for accomodation try owners direct, if you want to know ...

If you do consider Pamporovo, there is the option of flying with Ryan Air from Stansted to Plovdiv. This is a transfer of about 1.5 hours.
I have also sent you an e-mail.

Don't forget that Bansko has 3 world skiing events this year in Feb so could be busy. Steve C and me can help you with any info that you are looking for. Just click on one of our names to email and ask away Wink

Sounds like the old Harry Hill debate going on again, which is best? Fight.
Anyway i'll put my two pennies in. I've booking mixed parties to Borovets for a number of years now, mixed sex groups, ages from 3 years to 50 ish, families and singles and Borovets works for us. That said as I've been so happy there I have not tried Bansko or Pamps.
Don't where you are flying from but if you don't mind adding a bit to your journey you may be able to save a few quid and get full baggage allowance ...

Reckon you need to decide which resort you want to go to and it will be easy enough to find accom on this site and forum

I figured this topic might have been under debate before so thank you for humoring me, the information provided and send via email has been very useful and will, most likely, shape our holiday.

Many thanks,
