No snow or Bulgaria

There seems to be a slight negative feeling on the site this year. Have the resorts changed or is it just the lack of snow.

For sure there are a lot of disappointed holidaymakers this year and maybe people are looking more closely at the resorts. Without snow it looks a real mess with the amount of building work taking place. The state of the roads & pavements as a result of heavy lorries means any journey is like off roading. If they try to fill all those hotels and appartments, which i'm sure they will, next year the infrastructure won't be able to cope at peak season.

I agree with Pepe. I have just come back from Bansko and the journey from the hotel to the Gondola station was horrifying looking out at all the cranes rubble etc.

The queues for the gondala were horendous 2 hours is you got there any later than 9pm. Lots of queue jumpers.

The ski store in the white tents doesnt open its doors until 8.30 so by the time you get your stuff the queue has formed.

Ski school was this last week hopeless (wasted money), some fellow skiers were telling tales of classes up to thirty. Dont have personal experience of this but be prepared to stand around for 30 mins whilst the instructors wait for latecomers who havent been able to make it up the mountain.

However I did see some good classes out and about so I think its a bit of a lottery. Plus it was half term both UK and Bulgaria.

To add to the horror of the queues this week there was a european biathalon competion not only did they jump the lift queues but they took over all of restuarants at Bunderitsa and on some days ti was only an outside take away available. Anyone going this week wont have this problem.

Once off in to the mountains on the Shilligarnik side we had some good skiing for most of the week, nice bars friendly staff. The snow on Friday left loose powder on ice and we witnessed lots of accidents.

Would give Bansko another try in a few years in the hope that a second Gondola will help.

No such problems in Pamps, many more resturants to choose from on the mountain than Bansko, all with waiter service, and many with cosy log fires.
Only problem in Pamps was the low snow fall, but the fact that most reports indicate that we had a great holiday despite the snow fall is a positive reflection on the running of the resort.
