I do ski a bit but due to painful knees am only planning to do half days. So I'd be happy to meet up with you in the afternoons and maybe explore Samokov and other nearby villages and towns. I've got a list somewhere of them, and there is one that a non-skier recommended.
Also I really do want to see the Rila Monastery - with two of us it would probably be cheaper to get a private driver than take a tour. I have the number of a driver who speaks good English and is very ...

I think if you click on my name you can email me.
Oh, and I have twin 16yo boys so maybe we should meet up! We are staying at the Royal Plaza apartments right in the very centre of Borovets.
Hi Louise,
My husband and I went to Borovec this mid-Jan. with a 4-year old who didn't ski, so the husband and I alternated on the slopes while the other babysitted and I can tell you that I would've been fine just walking around, having tea and people-watching on the nursery slopes, it's very lively and there's a good atmosphere. We went swimming every afternoon and just lounged around in the Rila lobby in the evenings, too tired for anything else. Went to dinner but called it an early ...

Samokov town isn't much and shops close at 7ish. I've been to Rila Monastery before and it's beautiful, you should go and see it.
And another thing, even if you don't ski, borrow one of the skiers' passes and take a ride on the gondola, the views are gorgeous at the top. Have fun!
P.S. You could also just indulge yourself, Lion has a spa, right?
Hey thanks everyone for your comments, it is greatly appreciated...the way the snow reports are going I will have plenty of company as no-one will be skiing!!! I really hope this doesn't happen!!
