Just came across a small hitch. Girlfriend doesn't have a passport just a German ID card which is accepted everywhere in Europe and the USA and Australia but not in BG.Time for some frantic phone calls tomorrow

Dec 19th Gemma, the problem is we are waiting for an origional birth cert. to be issued in Germany then that has to be sent here then the application goes to the German embassy in London who pass it on to the German embassy in Berlin who send it back to London then it gets forwarded here. Takes 10 - 15 working days once they have it in London. Birth certificate wasn't issued today so we will just have to wait and see !

Best to do send your girl friend with easy jet to Berlin, to the Landeseinwohnermeldeamt, then she needs only two pics and a sign and 4 to5 weeks and she can take away a passport for the time she is waiting...Sune

Sune,We have contacted the Embassy in London and they say that a Geburtsurkunde is necessary to process the Vorlaufigan Reisepass. The problem is we are waiting for the Geburtsurkunde. Or did the give me the wrong information ? Pease reply if you know something that I don't

So Dave,if she is german she needs only a ID or a Passport and have to go to the Einwohnermeldeamt in Germany, and they can give her a vorl?ufigen Passport.
She needs may be a Geburtsurkunde, if you will make the same in UK.

I called today and spoke to the German Embassy in London. We've now had the 3rd version of requirements and have decided to go to London next week with all of the various documents that they require and let them choose what to do when we get there.
They also say that at the same time that we apply for the tempory passport we have to apply for the full passport. Not a problem but they didn't tell us that before.
We also need the Abmeldebestaetigung and other documents not a ...

No wonder we won 5 -1 in Munich !
