We - 4 of us - were (are) booked for a week in Pamps, 8th February. When booking we discovered that only in February and only from Humberside could you fly into Plovdiv. Humberside is easily do-able for us, and Plovdiv is of course a much shorter transfer to Pamps than Sofia.
I have today had a letter saying ALL Humberside flights are cancelled, there are now NO flights into Plovdiv whatsoever. They want to transfer us to the Manchester flight ( longer trip beforehand, not to mention a 2 ...

They have offered the chance to move resorts, and suggested Borovets ( which they say is about a 90 min transfer)
We've only ever skied Pamps; how does Boro compare? We are a really mixed ability group, a v good skier, a good skier, a 3rd improver and a raw beginner.
..or should we grit our teeth and go to Pamps and ednure the vvvv long transfers??
I do understand your frustration and it has become an annual pain in the butt with Balkan.
The transfer from Sofia is 4 hours with a stop just outside Plovdiv at McDonalds. You'll be surprized how quick this time will fly by and you'll also get to see parts of Bulgaria that you have not experienced before.

If you want to try somewhere new then give Borovets a bash, I'm sure you willl enjoy it. On the other had, if you want to stick with Pamporovo, which you seem to love as much as I do, then the inconvienience that you have been asked to endure in my book is well worth putting up with.
I've done both from Sofia and yes the transfer to pamps was long would have been ok but it meant we didn't arrive until 2 in the morning and getting up next day to organise ski school etc... was a pain. More relaxed to borovets and just as much fun. we're going same week staying at the iglika.
Thansk to all for the sensible answers! The additional problems we also now have to look at are timings: The Manchester flights aren't badly timed, so even allowing for a longer transfer we'd still be in resort at a reasonably decent time. We could switch to Newcastle - easier for us - but that would get us into the hotel at 1am.
We - as PP says - like Pamps, we like the hotel ( we use the Rhodopi Home in Chepelare) and one of the reasons we like that hotel is that its quieter, away ...

Oh, decisions, decisions, decisions.......we'll have to have a conflab to decide ( not easy as two of the party live in Holland!)
Try thr lion hotel in Borovets or the Iglika if you like quieter hotels. Also your very good skier would perhaps find more to do and the other skiers would be well catered for

Why dont you arrange your own flight and hotel. I flew with Balkan last year from Manchester to Plovdiv as I have a place in Pamps but as they stopped the flights to Plovdiv I arranged one via SKI Flights, and they do the transfer to Pamps as well whereas couldnt get that with Balkan. If you are staying in Chepelare the new lift should be open so that will be worth trying out too.
