I've just been watching Holiday2005 and saw a member of the Italian ski team take a quadruplesummersault with 2 1/4 turns, ending in a triple back-flip.
It looked really painful!
I'm getting SCARED now as a novice skier... never skiied on snow...
please tell me... someone... that it doesn't hurt as much as it looks - and that bones are only broken in folk lore!!!!
dizzy i'm afraid to say that it does hurt .depends how icy it is though if its powder it dosen't hurt.don't worry though as a beginner you won't be doing any somersaults .no pain no gain
dizzy....part of learning to ski is the falling down. everyone does it. just pick yourself up and start again. like every1 says it can hurt a little...ive just come back from pamps and ive got the odd bruise to prove it.....but just remember skiing is supposed to be fun and if you laugh it off im sure you will be fine. you will have a fantastic holiday.
We went last year as first timers and I took some fairly hefty tumbles and I have to say that the pain from aching muscles that hadn't been used before at the end of each day was far greater than any caused by falling! As a first timer - you'll fall over, but so will so many others around you - relax as best you can and have a great time. A huge part of the fun is the apres ski story sharing, and who had the biggest fall!!
