OUCH!!

Arrived in Borovets 26th Jan. First day skiing as a beginner ended with me badly twisting my Knee very badly. Ski instructor quite unhelpful, perhaps he thinks I make a habit of sreaming in agony!

Arrived in Borovets 26th Jan. First day skiing as a beginner ended with me badly twisting my Knee very badly. Ski instructor quite unhelpful, perhaps he thinks I make a habit of sreaming in agony!
Anyhow, I was in desperate pain and was not quite sure what to do. Then discovered as well as bars touting for clientel for their businesses they all know a Dr. to contact. Can only assume they have some payback for the recommendation. However, the Dr. I was attended by was very thorough and knows his stuff. I was taken by ambulance to just outside Borovets for Xrays but the 'Medical Centre' was quite a shock, a very poorly maintained building, half deserted and with no lifts working the Dr. and assisant had to carry me, in a wheel chair up 2 flights of stairs. As I say quite a shock but seen quickly and then returned to hotel for lots of painkiller injections. D. has returned everyday to give further injections.
Basically all I'm trying to say is it's different to at home but trust the system AND make sure you have insurance!!

Ah, that is awful Christine. I can sympathise - broke my shoulder skiing on the first day last year in Italy. Facilities there were great though.Hope it isn't too bad for you.

I can relate to that, Went to Lapland skiing last year had a bad fall on a red ended up with a displaces fracture of the collare bone & had to be flown home we were lucky on 2 counts it was the 8th day as we had booked for 2 weeks & had great insurance cover and was flown home they paid for me to have 2 seats so no one was next to me. Boy did it hurt.re: OUCH!!
Broke my wrist in Boro over Christmas, went in an ambulance to a medical centre behind the bars in the village. was seen straight away xrayed and plastered all within half hour then was taken back to the bar in an ambulance and they didnt charge me a penny just asked me to return the next day to be reviewed and show my insurance card. I did this and have had a letter from insurance co to say all paid and dealt with no hassle. Plaster off today and going back to boro this saturday to ski ...

I had a skiing accident 3 years in pamporovo doing serious damage to my knee. medical centre very sparse but insured i got neccessary treatment needed, doctor visited hotel to check all was ok. but yes make sure you have insurance. No Hassle at all. I had to pay the medical centre direct on my return and claimed it back within 10 days. However never healed correctly and last year i had knee surgery to repair ligament and cartlidge damage and needed micro fracture to my tibia....haven`t ...

My best friend is a ski instuctor and i reguarly see her up to 3 times a year, for the past 2 years in sunny beach.
