Old Piste Map of Borovets

Does anyone know if I could get hold of an old (15 yrs) piste map of Borovets?

I recall that on our first ever visit in the late 90s there was a run that went under a bridge as it got close to the village but I've never found it in our more recent visits the past couple of years.

When we went ski-dooing however we went under the ski jump and I wondered if that path was once part of the ski area?

Does anyone know if this was skiable once? Does anyone have an old piste map they could ...

Odd request I know but these things bug me!

re: Old Piste Map of Borovets

Hi jez- i have found 3 piste maps of Borevets from late 80's or early 90's -one of which is quite a large . You are welcome to have them-I remember a bridge that would have been on the way back from the yastrabets runs when there seemed to quite a long path which required a lot of walking/sking-I think somehow it must have been bypassed when they created the Mussala pathway. If you email me your address I will pop it in the post.Thelma ps .not sure how I give you my email address!!

Wow - I really didn't expect anything to come of this but that's the power of the forum!

Many thanks Thelma. You can allow your email address to be seen in the forum from your settings but if you would rather not have that visible then just email me jeremy dot aston at realitylogic dot com.

Funnily enough I always thought the bridge was on the Yastrebets side but the only one I saw that made any sense was the ski jump one. I was beginning to think that I was thinking of the wrong resort or there was somewhere I'd missed in my skiing.

I would love to take a look and I can return them to you. I've also realised how much I really do sound like a trainspotting anorak!

re: Old Piste Map of Borovets

Hi Jez, I think the bridge you mention may be at the very end of Yastrebets 1 as you head back to the gondola station and is part of the biathlon course. The path was changed some years ago and you no longer go under this bridge but it is still there.

I remember in 1999 going under a bridge on the skidoos, but if memory serves it was actually part of the old concrete ski jump.

re: Old Piste Map of Borovets

Hi Rob, that bridge is still there and as you say it is part of the ski jump. In the summer one of the bike tracks goes under it.

Hey Gerry, apparently I missed you by seconds this season, same run, same time, but a bit apart. I did meet Sandra at the bottom of the Rotata run for a bit, but need to wait till next year for a proper catch up. I'll try to get Tim out too as he's missed the last two years.

Sandra told me that she had seen you, we need to be a bit more organised next year. I bet you were not disappointed this year, the best snow for ages.
