This board was a valuable source of information prior to my holiday in Borovets. The positive comments far out-weigh the negatives. On that basis, most users of this site are able to form a balanced opinion.

Having just returned from Borovets I would certainly endorse a lot of the negative comments. In summary, the majority of people opt for Bulgaria on the basis of cost. If you are prepared to compromise on cost you cannot expect the hygiene, service and facilities you may have experienced at other more expensive resorts.
I agree that there are a lot of pro Bulgaria people on here.
I too found the info I had read before the holiday to be very valuable, although I am capable of making my mind up! Thanks to all who posted info, most recommendations were spot on. Would like to add mine.

Bars: Peters Pub (Karaoke), OK not everyones idea of fun but it was a great place to drink in straight off the slopes (opposite the ski depot).
I agree that the pro Bulgaria lobby here do 'attack' negative contributions, but I have read most of the posts and although they seem critical of criticism most of the time all they were doing was asking for the full facts. Take the Donner story. They did not seem to believe it because not everything appeared to add up, e.g. 2 hour coach delay but didnt miss flight. Then Donner added that they had booked the Sofia trip before the flight home, this then added up.
What I am saying is that people here are open and honest. If you have comments to make then back them up with the full story, that way I think even the pro crowd will accept criticism.
For example my only downer on the week was the Hotel (Breza). I had read on here that it was not that good, went with expectations and was not disappointed. The rooms were small, beds uncomfortable to a 6 footer. The maid made the beds 3 times out of the 7 days, the mirrors had a layer of grease/grime on and the shower leaked onto the floor. On the reverse side the rooms were warm. The bar excellent. The food was not as good as in the resort restaurants but was edible.
Go with an open mind, let people on here know what you think, and remember not everyone likes the same things, that is why this is a discussion board. Just back up your comments.
